What is Critical Reading?
Critical Reading is a way of defining what is read and putting meaning behind it. The writing is evaluated, judged, and comprehended to a level where the reader does not give a biased thought about the readings. It is a way to be open to what has been read even if it is an untrue statement. As in the course, Critical Reading 101, the projects are as followed: 3 individual service learning projects for Project HOPE, and 1 group project. The projects also involve writing personal journals and reflections upon issues that come about. The issue I have decided to learn more about is the increase in percentages of overweight and unhealthy lifestyles in America. I will be contacting the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to further my expansive research on the issue. The project is called “Healthy Habits” which has a description that states “Designed to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club experience, Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being.” As I agree with being given credit when it is needed, I feel that if you show that you did the work by observations, notes, and researching, then you should be honored for all the hard work put into it.
